The Space Needle is the number one Landmark in Seattle, and having lunch high up above the city at the Sky City Restaurant is a great way to see it.
The restaurant revolves at a fair clip, doing the 360º circle in about 45 minutes, or two full revolutions during the usual meal, providing a bird’s eye view of the changing city.
A late lunch at 2:00PM or later allows the best opportunity for a relaxed meal at a window table. The last lunch reservations taken are for 2:45 PM, and by 4:00 PM the last of the diners were finishing their desserts and taking their last photos.
Ask for a window table when you check in downstairs, and again when you get up to the restaurant, and let them know you are willing to wait. If you don’t want to wait, however, the booths are higher up, and with just two rows of diners, the view through the full windows is great from all the seats.
Lunch is fine dining, not just tourist fare. The meals were well prepared and nicely presented, and service was efficient and friendly. The Sky City Restaurant has award winning wine service and a good selection of wines by the glass. Lunch, including soup and several glasses of wine each for two people, cost over $100, so this is not a bargain meal.
However, the trip up to the observation deck alone costs $16 each for adults, so that sweetens the deal a bit. Diners are also invited to visit the observation deck just above the restaurant either before or after their meal.

Make the reservations online, at least the day before, or earlier. The confirmation form will give instructions for checking in, and let you know that casual attire is acceptable.
