President-elect Barack Obama promised his daughters a puppy if he made to the White House. Since he’s transition to it is imminent now the big question is, “what kind of dog should he give his girls?” Of course, we all know that every dog isn’t the same. They have different needs and temperaments. So, a smart parent has to be careful of which breed he or she brings into their house. Below are the top five dogs that Obama should consider for his girls and why.
1. Beagle- This versatile breed can live almost anywhere. Obama’s daughters can rough house with this dog without worrying about ever being bitten. Also, Michelle and the other staff at the White House will enjoy these dogs because of their easily maintained coats.
2. Poodle- This dog is popular for a reason. Besides being a sign of stature in the American society, Poodles are also intelligent and easily trained. The Obama girls will enjoy having one as a pup because it will be loyal and easy on their allergies.
3. Golden Retriever- This traditional dog is a big part of the American landscape. If the Obama girls get one as a pup, they will increase their appearance of patriotism to the heartland of this country. Golden Retrievers also are great for big households with lots of kids. Their temperaments are mild and easy going – just right for young kids.
4. Labrador Retriever- If the Obama girls want a pup who will keep them entertained for hours by doing tricks, they should get a Labrador Retriever. This breed of dog is versatile, playful and smart. The girls will enjoy hours of fun with this breed.
5. Border Terrier- This breed is another one that is easy to care for, but also great for kids. Obama’s girls will enjoy running around the White House with this dog. He’ll be like a sidekick that always keeps them going.
These breed of dogs are the best ones for the Obama girls. So, hopeful president-elect Barack Obama and the First Lady-elect Michelle will select one for their girls. It will be nice to see them add on to their family as they embark on a new segment of their lives.
