You have been praying a little; attending church service and maybe paying some tithes. You have told some other individuals about God and invited them to church. You have been kind to some people and gone through the motions of outward activities that show others that you are a Christian. This is all good. This is all great, but it’s backward and there is something missing.

Jesus didn’t die on the cross just so that we could do good works. Good works don’t save us and change our lives. Good works are ‘good works.’  There is nothing bad about good works; there is nothing ungodly about good works and good works can bless others.  Good works are good, but there is something missing.

Jesus died so that we could live; Jesus died so that our life would be filled and whole; Jesus died so that our life would be in Him and He would be in us. You can give everything you have, to everyone you know, but if you have not given yourself completely and totally to Him, something is missing.

If you ever wonder why you are doing all of the right things, but you still feel empty; you are doing all of the right things, but you still feel lost; you are saying all of the right things and going to the right places, but you still feel like something is missing…. The one thing that is missing, is that you have not given yourself totally and completely to God. It feels like something is missing; because something is missing.

You gave everything; and you did everything, except you haven’t totally surrendered and committed; dedicated and devoted yourself to Him.  Until we give ourselves, everything else is just ‘good work.’  Good works don’t make you right with God; but when we get right with God, the ‘good works’ follow anyway. Are the good works wrong? No, they are necessary…. But without giving yourself to God, you will still feel that something is missing, because until HE has you, you can’t really experience Him.

If you feel like something is missing…give it up today. Give yourself to God totally and completely; entirely and wholly. Don’t hold anything back; trust Him with everything… Trust Him with your life; seek Him in everything you do; ask Him to deliver you; heal you; guide you; direct you; correct you; strengthen you….ask Him to order your steps, and refuse to go anywhere without Him…because when you go with Him, you are truly missing something!

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV

Love somebody today who doesn’t love you; doesn’t care about you; won’t repay you, can’t repay you and doesn’t want to repay you…then you will be treating them the way God treated you…
