With teachers getting laid off left and right in some parts of the country, new and displaced teachers are left wondering where the jobs are.  Instead of resigning yourself to waiting tables until the economic smoke clears, you can look into finding a teaching job in your own home office or den.

As the more and more students look for cheaper avenues of education through online education, and high school students are choosing to do more learning online, virtual teaching jobs are opening up. There are not only numerous virtual schools for homeschool students, but college students are turning to the internet in droves.  It goes to reason that the jobs will follow.

This article gives a few ideas for beginning your search as an online educator.  It recommends several websites heavily used by homeschoolers. This squidoo page also gives a full tutorial about finding online teaching jobs.

Many virtual schools that are hiring are actually state run schools.  Florida Virtual School, Georgia Virtual Schools, and Chicago Virtual schools are clearly hiring. Just about any state that has a virtual school also has virtual school jobs.  Just do an online search for "your state" and "virtual school job".
