Every year there are stories about graduating students whose stories pull on the heart strings.  Some students have dealt with teenage pregnancy.  Some have lost a parent at some point in their lives.  In short, they have overcome tragedy to come out at the top of their class.

If you have ever had a night where you were in between homes, or had no place to lay your head, then you have lived a tiny fraction of Khadijah Williams' life.  The recent high school graduate has lived her entire life without an actual home.  From birth, her mother has traveled from shelter to shelter.  They have slept on the streets.  They have slept among prostitutes and pimps.  It would have been so easy for her to be seduced by drugs, alcohol,  or worse, to help her escape the realities of her situation.  Instead, Khadijah chose education.

Khadijah managed to secure spots in gifted programs at every new school.  She began to seek out mentors in the 10th grade.  She experienced the closest thing to home as spent the last part of her senior year with a stable family when her mother moved unexpectedly.

As Khadijah leaves for Harvard, where she was granted full scholarship, she will finally be able to wake up in a home that is truly hers.
