According to a report from The College Board, paying for your college degree is going to be difficult.

Most students and their families can expect to pay, on average, from $172 to $1,096 more than last year for this year's tuition and fees, depending on the type of college.

Sure, there are also more scholarships this year, more than $168 billion, but for the average student, one can't help but feel defeated.

For the student hoping to attend college, scholarships need to be foremost on their minds.  This means studying hard in high school and getting good scores on standardized tests.  It also means being proactive in searching for grants and scholarships and not waiting for them to come to you.  Whatever you don't raise through performance, you will need to make up for in student loans and perhaps working your way through college.

There is also the option of shortening your education by testing by doing independent study and testing out of as many classes as possible.
