Can’t decide between a land vacation and one on a waterway? By combining a European villa vacation with a barge cruise, families and couples can experience a quality vacation and pay less. Staying in a villa for a week is an ideal way for families to enjoy valuable time together.  Adding the water component gives everyone a break as the scenery changes constantly.  A few years back, I took a barge cruise along France’s Dijon River, stopping off to taste wines and Champagnes along the route. It remains to this day one of my most memorable journeys.

This season, travelers can take advantage of a Wimco Villas’ special that offers clients 25 percent discount on a two-to-six day barge cruise that originates in Flanders in the heart of Europe. This is one of the latest specials listed in the Wimco.com newsletter. To check it out and subscribe to the newsletter, visit: HTTP://WWW.WIMCO.COM/NEWSLETTER/20090415EBLAST.ASP

The water portion of the trip commences aboard the classic Golden Odyssey of Luxembourg.  Built as a barge back in 1926,  it is now a private luxury yacht. Up to eight guests in four cabins can share the ride. The package includes chauffeur-driven transfers from hotel or airport, all meals including wine and beer at lunch and dinner, excursion picnics and entrance fees to pre-arranged excursions. The offer is exclusively available through Wimco Villas.

“We envision families and small groups of friends enjoying a Golden Odyssey private charter cruise as part of a European vacation,” says Stiles Bennet, Wimco Villas’ vice president of marketing and sales. “Fly in to Brussels, spend a relaxing few days barging through historic Flanders, take a train to the South of France for a week in a private villa, and then fly home from Nice or Cannes.” He notes that air fares booked between now and the end of May are expected to offer what he calls “exceptional value.”

“In this challenging economy, villa vacations offer space, privacy and, most importantly, value for those who want to take a quality vacation, but pay less,” says Bennet.

About Wimco Villas: In Europe, Wimco represents villas in Italy www.wimco.com/italy.asp, the South of France (http://www.wimco.com/france.asp), and Mykonos www.wimco.com/greece.asp

Voted 'Best Presented Villas' by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, Wimco Villas’ inspection process of visiting and evaluating each villa helps to assure that a match is made for each client's expectation of value. The company can tailor your holiday to suit your most dreamed-of activity be it arranging for a private chef or yoga instructor or simply a restaurant reservation
