Apparently, though we know it's not uncommon, it's more prevalent than you suspect. Freelance journalist Declan Hill has written The Fix: Soccer and Organized Crime, enough to bring tears to your incredulous eyes when the underdog miraculously upends a footballing powerhouse. Given the sheer amount of cash swapping hands in the global game, you'd have to be naive to believe there's no hanky-panky going one. Tied to a huge betting industry, with dubious agents, bungs and the wonder that is calcio, a topic that is rarely spoken about will no doubt now come to the forefront.
