Clothing retailer “maurices” has begun a nationwide campaign called Rescues And Runways to raise awareness about homeless pets. They will be producing more than 700 pet-themed fashion shows in 44 states during September and October.
Each fashion show will partner with a local animal shelter. Models wearing “maurices” designs will strut down the runway along with an orphaned pet that is ready to be adopted into a new home.
"We're trying to create awareness with our customers around the country," David Jaffe, CEO and president of “maurices” told Pet Pulse News. This is the first of 700 of these we're going to do to make sure people don't forget about our four-legged friends."
The campaign has two main goals:
The clothing chain will also be selling a “Friends for Life” charm at each of their stores that celebrates the special bond between pet guardians and their four-legged kids. The two piece charm is intended to be shared between pets and their humans.
