Musician Bob Bryar, from the rock band My Chemical Romance is suing his dog trainer for the death of his beloved dog named Dixie.

The drummer told PEOPLE magazine that he sent his German shepherd mix canine to Daniel Schaffer’s kennel after he received a referral. He wanted Schaffer’s help to train his “emotionally fragile, formerly abused rescue dog adjust to a new dog in the household.”

At first he received reports from Schaffer that Dixie was “having a blast and partying all day.” But a week later, Schaffer called to let Bob Bryar know that Dixie was killed when a drunk driver struck the vehicle in which he was carrying Dixie and other dogs.

Later that evening, “Schaffer called again and informed Bryar that he could not say goodbye to Dixie for she had been cremated due to her condition,” the lawsuit says.

Two days after that, the trainer delivered an urn to Bryar with Dixie’s remains.

"I don't even know what happened to my best friend and miss her more than anything in the world," Bryar tells PEOPLE. "The devastation I feel is beyond words."

Bryar filed a lawsuit against Schaffer for breach of contract, fraud, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The lawsuit further states that since the incident, “Schaffer has failed to produce a police report documenting the crash, he changed his story and said Dixie died in her sleep, then changed that story to say she died under other circumstances.”
