Cheerleader catfight for PETA

A possible “catfight” started last week between former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, Bonnie-Jill Laflin and Tennessee Titans Cheerleader, Melissa Hodges. The controversy began after Laflin learned that Hodges’ day job includes gruesome duties that abuse lab animals.
In a recent interview Hodges told the press that she worked for Vanderbilt University as a neuroscience research assistant. She explained that one of her job duties was to decapitate lab rats for science experiments.
When Laflin heard the news she retaliated with a scathing letter to Hodges. Laflin is a strong supporter of animal rights and a PETA spokesperson. In her letter she asked Hodges to reconsider her job of animal experimentation and reminded the cheerleader that Vanderbilt had been sited dozens of times for violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
Here is an excerpt from Laflin’s letter:
I'm writing on behalf of my friends at People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and PETA's more than two million members. I am a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and a current scout for the NBA, but my great passion is animal protection. I was therefore extremely disappointed to read about your work in an animal laboratory at Vanderbilt University Kennedy Center. You may not be aware of the indifference that Vanderbilt University has shown in regard to following even the minimal standards required by federal regulations. Or that Vanderbilt has been cited for dozens of violations of the animal welfare act in the last three years.
As you continue your career in medicine, you're sure to see that, scientifically speaking, a mouse suffers just as much as a cat would if guillotined in a laboratory and anything that can be done to avoid causing such suffering should be done."
Laflin has used her cheerleader fame and sultry body for PETA in their “Sexy Go Vegetarian” ad and “Buck the Rodeo” animal anti-cruelty campaign. Hodges hasn’t commented about the letter or controversy.
