America's favorite animal shelter announced by Care2
Congratulations to Independent Animal Rescue, Inc. of Durham, North Carolina for being chosen as America’s favorite animal shelter by the online community at Care2. The unique website was created by Randy Paynter in 1998 with this simple goal, “to make the world a better place.” Since that time, more than 9 million people worldwide have become members, where they discuss and petition for a humane way of life for people and animals around the globe.
Independent Animal Rescue, Inc. will receive a cash prize of $10,000 as the winner of the contest. The non-profit, no-kill rescue organization saves the lives of homeless pets from animal shelters in the Durham area when the animals have been placed on the euthanasia list. Cats and dogs are then sent to live with foster families until they can be socialized and adopted. The group also provides spay/neuter clinics for disadvantaged families.
Care2 also presented cash awards to the runners up in the contest.
