All types of gifts are available on animal rescue websites.

If you are ready to start your holiday shopping or just have a few items left on your list, why not shop pet rescue style? Animal rescue websites often offer an opportunity to shop online with them. There is a wide variety of gifts to choose from and the money you spend will benefit homeless and abused pets.

Check with a shelter or animal rescue organization in your area to see if they have an online store or if they are participating in any special holiday bazaars or holiday fundraisers. For instance, my group, the Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary (HCWS) will be selling Christmas ornaments online with the proceeds benefiting our spay/neuter program and the cats and dogs in our care.

All of the pet rescue groups have felt the slowdown in the economy. We have been taking-in more abandoned cats and dogs because of the mortgage crisis, but donations are down. Purchasing some of your holiday gifts with any rescue group will be greatly appreciated.

So check-out the bargains and unique gifts offered at these national rescue groups or at your local animal rescue organization:

Remember to also check with the local animal rescue groups in your area for shopping opportunities. And if you can’t seem to find that special gift for that extraordinary person on your list, a donation made the person’s name will be greatly appreciated by the charity.
