re-purpose your written, audio and video content
Re-purpose your content from audio to video to written and back again.

Sound familiar? This is the credo of the "Green" movement. But did you know it is also a good strategy for your business?

In information marketing, you can always re-purpose content you've already created and develop something new and relevant for your customers.

Have an article that got good feedback? Transform it into a teleseminar. Bulk it up into an e-book. Create a video based on it. Do you see what I mean?

Let's say you're an expert in applying clown makeup for Hallween. You could take that information that is in your head and use it to create any number of informative products that other interested in dressing up like a clown for Halloween would love to consume. Here are some ideas for both free (lead generation) and paid products:

  • An article about the basics of applying clown makeup
  • A teleseminar about the types of make up that clowns use
  • An audio interview series with professional clowns
  • An e-book on how to create the perfect clown Halloween costume
  • A video on types of clown noses
  • A video series showing the step by step method of applying clown makeup
  • An in-person clown make up workshop
  • A video product created from the recording of that workshop

And these were just the ideas that came off the top of my head ... knowing nothing about clown make up! As an expert, you could totally come up with more. And if you're an expert in something else, I hope this list gave you some inspiration.

Another point: I often get asked, "Isn't it cheating to keep re-purposing the same old stuff?"

No. For one, when you re-purpose, you change. It is no longer the exact same thing.

For another, different people have different learning styles. Your content in one format may not have appealed to everyone in your audience. But by re-using the same information and providing it in a different format, you are able to provide worthwhile information to more of your audience.

Also, repetition is how we learn. Sometimes it is important to get the same information in different formats so that we learn in more fully.
