As the parent of a four year-old son, I've watched a fair amount of children's TV in recent months. And after all of that quality parenting time, here are some of the lessons I've learned from the shows my kid is watching:
1) When you ride in a boat, everyone has to wear a life jacket. Even if you're a duck.
2) There is no better spokesperson for environmental awareness than Diego, who has a baby jaguar as a pet.
3) If "Dinosaur Train" is to be believed, dinosaurs not only rode a time-traveling commuter train, but they somehow managed to afford tickets.
4) A surprising number of animals in Dora's jungle only speak Spanish.
5) "Toot And Puddle" are apparently television's first openly gay talking pigs.
6) I'm not sure where "Sid The Science Kid" lives, but as a parent I love his school classroom's 4-1 kid/teacher ratio.
7) I find it hard to believe that "Clifford, The Big Red Dog" wouldn't have his own agent. Or at least a TLC reality series.
8) A more more appropriate name for "Little Einsteins" would be "Big-Headed Masters Of The Obvious"
