NBC announced today that it is picking up an additional nine episodes of its sophomore comedy "Chuck," giving the show a full season order for the 2008-2009 programming year.

"Chuck" premieres its new season on Monday, September 29th (8-9 p.m. ET).

"We couldn't be more excited with the creative direction Josh (Schwartz) and his team are executing on 'Chuck,'" said Teri Weinberg, Executive Vice President, NBC Entertainment. "This show has really hit its stride and deserves a full-season commitment to carry out the producers' vision for this unique series."

The season one DVD box set of "Chuck" will be released on Tuesday, September 16th.
