When former Penn State wide receiver Jordan Norwood announced via Twitter that he was on his way to Philadelphia it was easy to speculate that he was coming in for a work out with the Philadelphia Eagles. That rumor has since been confirmed by a few news outlets, including beat reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer Bob Brookover.
However, Eagles fans, as well as Penn State fans, should not expect to see Norwood catching passes from Kevin Kolb (or Michael Vick?) this weekend when the Eagles host the Kansas City Chiefs in Lincoln Financial Field. The invitation to come in is very likely to fill a void in the practice squad for the NFC East squad. Yesterday the Eagles lost practice squad wide receiver Danny Amendola, who signed a contract with the St. Louis Rams.
For Norwood, the quest to the NFL makes a second stop.
One of the best wide receivers in Penn State history was a part of training camp for the Cleveland Browns, but Norwood was released just before the start of the season.
In Eagles land the fans are raising questions about a number of players this week after the Eagles were dismantled in their home opener by the New Orleans Saints. As poor as some players played it still seems unlikely that Norwood will be suiting up on Sundays any time in the near future.
