Oh how I luv me some good fish and chips. Having worked for 13 years for a local seafood restaurant chain, back in the day, I have a fondness, okay, craving for really good fish and chips. And while each of us has their own take on what is considered "the best", my current vote has to be the fish and chips at the Pacific Inn pub. Located between the Wallingford and Fremont neighborhoods just up the street from Gaswork's park on Stoneway, this place, bar none, is number one in my book!
The hand fileted and panko breaded fish is seasoned with a delicate mixture of garlic, basil and a touch of cayenne pepper. The spice didn't kill the tastebuds, but some spice-wimps might take notice. The fries were a nice cruchy/munchy battered and fried delight, while the tartar was alive with fresh dill, not too much mind you.
The bar serves up several local brews along with a working man's beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, by the pitcher no less! And well drinks are served up heartly with the good stuff, no generic vodka or gin can be found here!
The interior, while a bit, uh, for the lack of a better word, "rustic", never fear, don't worry, sit back and enjoy. And it's safe to say about the barflies, ask them questions they'll tell you no lies, plus they don't bite...hard...
