In 1987, the first victim of the Los Angeles serial killer known as the Grim Sleeper was found in Downtown Los Angeles. Since then, twelve murders have been linked to the same man and/or gun, but no suspect has been determined.
Many theories have arisen as to the profile of the serial killer. The intent of this article is to give an introduction to the case. Other articles will provide theories and on-going investigations. The most recent murder was January 1, 2007.
Anyone with any information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Dennis Kilcoyne of the LAPD.
The victims of this killer (with the exception of one) are all African-American females who were either prostitutes, or had some sort of "traumatic" life situation (i.e., drug abuse). The bodies were found near churches, the most infamous of which was the Cosmopolitan Church on Normandie Avenue (the 1987 slaying of Barbara Ware). Another interesting note is that all the names (excluding 3) end in "a," a potential link. The only male vicitim seemed to have "been in the way" of the intended target.
The suspect is thought to be an African-American male in his 40's with a slim build. Watch this site for more information! I will be researching and presenting my own theories and profiles in the near future!
