AM 1090 Seattle Progressive Talk Radio, held their 4th annual Town Hall Forum  on August 8th. The theme for the 2009 forum was “Embracing Change: Moving Forward As The Majority”.
Thom Hartmann, Ron Regan, Stephanie Miller, Bill Press, and Mike Malloy answered questions posted by listeners via submissions from the stations forum web page.  AM1090 Seattle is the only Air America station that holds this type of town hall event. David Postman, former chief political reporter for The Seattle Times, moderated the Panel discussion.
For three hours the crowd was entertained by some of the most brilliant liberals not only in talk radio, but also in the country. Stephanie Miller was hilarious! She was disappointed that no “Tea Baggers” showed up because she was “liquored up and ready to go”!

Every imaginable political topic was covered, with much of the first half of the discussion centered on health care, particularly the public option. Topics of discussion included everything from NAFTA to global warming.

Thom Hartmann and Bill Press offered up riveting conversation on some of the more serious issues facing the country today, Mike Malloy and Stephanie Miller kept the crowd laughing, and Ron Reagan was perfection with his usual animated and smart remarks.

The most important thing brought up last night, that needs repeating, are that all Progressives must email, phone, attend meetings, sign petitions, and continue to do everything we can to convince “on-the-fence” Senators that we must have a public health care option. On his home page, Bill Press has a link to every Democratic Senator not directly supporting the public health care plan. Until he gets confirmation of their support, the names will stay up.

Bill Press mentioned that in a very recent interview with Senator Maria Cantwell she indicated she would support a public health care option. This announcement brought about very loud applause!

I’m happy I attended last night and will be sure to never miss any future annual AM1090 Town Halls. For less than $25 it was a blast - three hours of riveting conversation and laughs!
