Jet America now offers flights for as little as $9.
Imagine taking a national flight from Newark for only $9. After spending hundreds of dollars on most national airlines, the offer seems too good to be true, but Jet America is trying to make these cheap fares a reality.
Jet America will offer 9 seats on every flight for only $9. Keep in mind that there is also a $5 convenience fee per ticket, which is written in small print at the bottom of the Jet America website. If you decide to make a booking over the phone there will be an additional call center fee of $10. Despite those extra charges the flights are still considerably cheaper than most other airlines.
Lagging ticket sales across the travel industry may have sparked clever ways for airlines to market their flights, although this tactic is far from new. Airliners in Europe have been offering cheap flights for awhile now. Ryanair and Easyjet are two examples of airliners that provide flights for as little as 6 Euros.
Jet America released a press release that the liner will be focusing on secondary routes to underserved cities. Often times these cities require consumers to take a small jet and pay more because of layovers and limited availability.
