Summer is upon us, and you know what that means: a new seasonal cocktail list. While creating a list of drinks that you’ll both enjoy and enjoy making can seem like a daunting task, take this opportunity to be creative! A great cocktail list can help boost your clientele and showcase you as the all-star bartender you already are. Here are some key points to consider while creating those amazing new cocktails:
Google is your friend!
Get the creative juices flowing by searching for some summer cocktails on the web. Even by just browsing the cocktail lists of other bars and restaurants, you can see what others are offering and create a competitive list.
Not every cocktail needs to be complicated!
While one or two intricate cocktails are great to have, they don’t all need to be muddled and rimmed. Remember, you need to make these even on busy nights; so keep it delicious yet simple.
While flavored vodkas and liqueurs can be a great jumping off point, nothing replaces the flavor of the real thing. Get creative, and use things not everyone else is: fresh ginger, basil, sage; they all make great mixers!
Keep in mind that certain ingredients are expensive to keep in stock. Talk to the chef (or whoever does the ordering) and see what you already have in the walk in that you could work with. Berries and fresh juice get pricey, so while it may be tasty, lets keep it under $15!
Put a new spin on an old favorite!
We’ve all had a mojito, a sidecar and a cosmo. The old favorites are there for a reason: they have staying power! So put a new spin on an old favorite, such as a fruit based sidecar, or a sweet mojito.
