Jennifer Hudson has just been confirmed as one of several recording artists who will appear at a memorial service dedicated to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The service, slated for Tuesday, July 7, will take place at Downtown Los Angeles' Staples Center and nearby Nokia Theater. It will be the first and seemingly only 'official' memorial service dedicated to the late King of Pop before internment at a nearby Hollywood Hills cemetary.
According to Los Angeles authorities a reported 750,000 people are expected to descend upon the Staples Center area to pay tribute to the legendary entertainer. In fact, authorities are recommending that Jackson fans without tickets stay home and watch via live feed.
"I want to stress to those people who are coming, or are thinking about coming, to the city, for the special event that you might want to consider watching from the comfort of your home," Councilwoman Jan Perry, the city's acting Mayor reported over the weekend.
In addition to Jennifer Hudson, who is expected to perform, a number of as-yet named recording stars are slated to take part in the memorial.
Noted Grammy Award producer Ken Ehrlich has also been confirmed as the producer behind Jackson's memorial, reports CNN.
Television networks including E!, CNN, ABC, Fox, TV Guide Channel, and Fox News are slated to air the anticipated memorial starting at 1pm ET/10am PT Tuesday.
The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, died Thursday, June 25 at the age of 50.
