  Maxwell - "Pretty Wings" 2009 | Sony/BMG

Maxwell is doubling up on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop charts just days before the highly anticipated release of "Blacksummers' night".

According to chart data released at Billboard Thursday, Maxwell's "Cold" and "Bad Habits" hold down the no.1 and no.2 spots on the R&B/Hip Hop Sales chart respectively.

As previously reported, Maxwell's new album, in stores Tuesday, July 7, follows the "Lifetime" singer's 2001 album "Now" and becomes his first release in just over seven years.

Currently on tour, Maxwell plays the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this weekend. He joins Beyonce, Ne-Yo and John Legend as a headliner.

"From My Heart to Yours" singer Laura Izibor has been tapped to open for Maxwell through August.

"Blacksummers Night" is just one of three new releases slated to come from Maxwell over the next three to four years.
