Alicia Keys has joined the ranks of Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Quincy Jones thanks to ASCAP.
Keys picked up ASCAP's Golden Note Award during a special ceremony at the 22nd Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards Friday, June 26.
The award, recognizing songwriters, composers, and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones, was accompanied by a host of other award presentations and performances.
Among the night's other big winners were Smokey Robinson (Heritage Award) and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, who tied for Songwriter of the Year honors with songwriting/production team Stargate (Hermansen & Eriksen).
Stewart and The-Dream earned recognition for their work on Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body;" Mary J Blige's "Just Fine" and The-Dream's own single "I Luv Your Girl".
Stargate, known for work with Ne-Yo and Jennifer Hudson among others, earned recognition for Ne-Yo's "Miss Independent;' Rihanna's "Take A Bow" and Jennifer Hudson's "Spotlight".
Ne-Yo, Kelly Price, Jeremih and James Fortune were among those who performed.
Fortune's "I Trust You" with FIYA picked up Top Gospel Song.
