What he said was from his heart, but how it came out on Larry King Live was another thing according to Chris Brown.

In a preview (watch below) of his forthcoming special with MTV, airing tonight, Brown admits to being uncomfortable during the heavily watched interview because of control and pre-interview training.

"I did a lot of media training and a lot of stuff like that, and it kind of wasn't genuine to me," Brown tells MTV's Sway. "Everything I was saying was from my heart, but it was kind of controlled. 'Well, don't say it like this, because it will look like that'."

According to Brown, the interview (also featuring his mother and lawyer, Mark Geragos) made him "nervous" and scared, resulting in an uncomfortable environment.

"It wasn't that kind of situation where I could be me," says Brown. "So I was just: 'I don't wanna say anything wrong.' "

Chris Brown appears on MTV tonight (Friday,November 6) at 6pm. His interview will be followed by an ABC special airing of 20/20 with Rihanna at 10pm (check local listings).
