April is Emotional Overeating and Awareness Month. Emotional eating, stress eating -- whatever you want to call it -- can derail the best of intentions. Clinical psychologist and emotional eating expert, Dr. Denise Lamothe, author of The Taming of the Chew: A Holistic Guide to Stopping Compulsive Eating, offers these tips to help you get back on track and restart those New Year's resolutions:

  • Pick up your journal and revisit your goals. Remind yourself what your goals were and why they are still important.
  • Don't fret. No one can adhere perfectly to his or her goals every time. Make a new action plan -- perhaps a more reasonable one that includes lots of fresh produce, pure water, a bit of fresh air, exercise and plenty of rest and fun!
  • Bring your healthy eating and weight loss intentions back to the front of your mind and make a promise to yourself to get back on track. Check out this blog at www.emotionaleatinghelp.org for more tips. The blog is written by Dr. Lamothe and sponsored by the Bach Emotional Eating Support Kit.

Dr. Lamothe has also been using Bach flower remedies with her patients. The all-natural homeopathic remedies, developed 75 years ago by Dr. Richard Bach, are derived from flowering plants and trees, Bach's Emotional Eating Support Kit may help you deal with the common emotions that can contribute to emotional eating.

  • Bach Cherry Plum - get back control
  • Bach Crab Apple - feel better about your body
  • Bach Chestnut Bud - break the destructive pattern

I've never used Bach flower remedies before, but what you do is put 2 drops of the flower essenses in any beverage.
