I was rather dismayed to see that this was another two-hour episode. I thought last season the show felt padded to fill the hours from the writers' strike but apparently the producers like the two-hour format. I find the one-hour shows get to the point quicker.
Bob put it succinctly when he stated "Week 2 sucks" for weight loss. Actually, in real life, it's a good thing. After a crazy big weight loss, the body needs time to process all that fat and water that disappeared.
Yellow Team Jerry said he made great strides in his exercise endurance, which is a good thing because he's in dire straits healthwise.
Product-placement corner: Yum, Extra gum! Enjoyed with their Brita water bottles!
The first little game: Teams got to bid on how much weight they thought they'd pull at the weigh-in. And of course, the bidding process went on far too long for compelling television. Yellow Team was the high bidders and has to lose more than 2.4 percent to win $10,000. If they don't they automatically fall below the yellow line.
The challenge: It's like a giant slip 'n' slide with a steep uphill climb. The prize is a phone call home. (So my kid says to me "Red Team won. Remember the promo from last week?" Note to producers: Stop giving stuff away in the promos! A 10-year-old can figure it out!) Turns out, Orange Team won and gave the Red Team an extra phone call, which was the most adorable thing EVAH!
Rocco diSpirito came back
because he has a new book to promote to teach the teams about eating healthy on a budget. The teams competed for a cooking contest and the winners get a year's worth of groceries.
Product-placement corner: Ooh, Jennie-O has sooo many delicious turkey products! And how convenient those Zip 'n' Steam bags are!
Purple Team won with their Tiny Turkey Meatball soup. And Rocco's tip for shopping the perimeter of the store is dead on. You eat much healthier and cheaper.
The last-chance workout was a fusillade of cussin'. But Yellow Team coleen revealed her achilles heel -- she's afraid of pushing herself. I'm guilty of that as well, which is why I swapped out my 30-minute workout for a 55- minute workout yesterday. I pushed myself and guess, what, I didn't explode!
Weigh-in and elimination: How did the dreaded week 2 numbers hold up? Low, as expected, but Orange Team Ed's wedding ring fell off his finger.
Quote of the night: "Yeah the number's low but my spirit's high." -- Pink Team Michelle.
All of Bob's teams were safe. Gray Team's L.T. actually gained 3 pounds. The Yellow Team did well but didn't hit the amount they bid on so they automatically went below the yellow line with Gray Team.
Tempers flared among the team members when it came time to choose the eliminated team. Even though the Gray Team saved the Orange Team's butts last week, Orange voted off Gray and they were eliminated.
The update: Tom has lost 65 pounds and L.T. is down 81 pounds.
So what did you think of the show?
