I'm a big fan of the bar scene.
(Not that one.)
There's always a stash of cereal bars, protein bars, breakfast bars and granola bars in the pantry, ready for school snacks and on-the-go meals. Often those bars lack fiber. But not Gnu.
What's Gnu? They're a line of baked bars that pack in 50 percent of your daily value of dietary fiber -- 12 grams. Lest you think that might taste like a brick of sawdust, these bars are moist, homemade looking and come in five flavors: Orange Cranberry, Banana Walnut, Cinnamon Raisin, Chocolate Brownie and Peanut Butter. Each bar is anywhere from 130-150 calories, 3-5 grams of protein, less than 10 grams of sugar, 3 grams of fat and no trans fat.
The blast of fiber comes from a mix of soluble and insoluble fiber that contains organic whole wheat flour, oats, wheat bran, psyllium, flax, millet and soy flour. The bars are also 100 percent fruit juice sweetened, kosher and vegan.
How do they taste? Love the Orange Cranberry and Cinnamon Raisin. Like the Banana Walnut; the Chocolate Brownie Bar and Peanut Butter are meh. This is surprising because I usually lean toward chocolately, nutty flavors. But these bars lend themselves toward more fruity, muffin-y flavors.
