If you own an iPhone or iPod, you are no stranger to all the amazing applications Apple offers. You can find apps that are as complicated as word processing, or as simple as a lighter flame. Now, thanks to a company called Healthy U Technologies, you can also use your I-can't-believe-I spent-an-entire-paycheck-on-this toy to track your carb counts!
Carb Tracker is everything you could want in a diet buddy, and it doesn't ask you to help it move. It will assist you in keeping tabs on your net carb counts, weight and water intake. (See slide show for more screen shots.)
If you eat out often, never fear. The Carb Tracker has a database of over 65,000 foods, including approximately 400 restaurants! And that database is growing all the time. You can also add in your own custom foods in the database, or request a food or restaurant be added by contacting the company via email.
The search engine is fairly easy to use, but the company reported that they have just improved that feature and in about a weeks time will be releasing the update, along with 5000 more new foods for the database.
I'm very impressed with this application and will be purchasing a copy of my own - as soon as I get an iPod. Meanwhile my husband is enjoying his iPhone copy immensely and loves how convenient it is. No matter where he's at, he can take a moment and input his food choices, knowing exactly where his carb counts are for the day.
At a measly $4.99, it's a great deal. And you don't have to worry about subscription fees, hidden charges or advertisements. Shoot, you don't even have to worry about having an Internet connection. The app contains all you need to keep going, so it wont be necessary to climb on top of the house trying to get those annoying, but all so life-giving bars to show up.
To purchase this app for yourself, check it out at the iTunes store. Soon you'll be able to visit their new website as well at www.carbtrackerapp.com. (As of this writing the website was not yet up, but I'm told it will be up very soon.)
