
San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts will host Shahrokh Moshkin-Ghalam, a celebrated Iranian dancer, and his company this upcoming Saturday.
Graduated from University of Paris VIII with a degree in History of Art and Theatre, Shahrokh has had lead roles in Ariane Mnouchkine’s productions of Tartuffe, La ville parjure and Les Atrides at the Theatre du Soleil, and is a member of one of Europe's illustrious theatre companies La Comédie Française where he had played in numerous plays such as Lully-Moliere, La Maison Des Morts of Philippe Minyana, Pedro et le commandeur of Felix Lope de Vega, and Yerma le Bonheur. Shahrokh whose every movement conveys a meaning to his audience also has appeared in Christopher Rauck’s Twelfth Night, Lionel Briand’s Romeo and Juliet, The Baccantes of Euripide directed by Usevio Lazaro, Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale , A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams and many more.

Shahrokh is the founder of the prestigious Nakissa Dance Academy which since its establishment in 1997 has performed acclaimed performances around the world. Shahrokh’s upcoming show promises to be an exceptional performance inspired by the poetry of the world-renowned 11th century Persian poet and astronomer Omar Khayyam. Shahrokh Moshkin-Ghalam will also deliver a lecture on Iranian Poetry, Dance and Art from a Historical, Sociological and Political Perspective on Sunday, September 13 at UC Berkeley’s 2040 Valley Life Sciences Building. The event is organized by Berkeley Lecture Series in partnership with Iranian Student Alliance in America, and is scheduled to start at 2pm.
