Written, composed, performed by Kevin Thornton, this rites-of-passage tale speaks loudly about sexuality and religion. "Sex, Dreams, & Self Control!" is a fusion of music, spoken word and standup comedy by openly gay artist known as Kevin Thornton.
Along with touring Fringe Festivals this summer Kevin published a book which is available now at www.thekevinthornton.com. This may be Kevin’s last appearance in Nashville as he prepares to take himself and the show to California in the coming year.
With so much free time on the road with his band, Waves on Waves, Thornton began sketching a coming out memoir. The goal of "Sex, Dreams, & Self Control!", Thornton says, is "to make people laugh, make them think, and move them all at the same time." The October shows are in conjunction with Tennessee Equality Project and in support of the East Nashville Caring Action Network.
Kevin is a graduate of Ball State University and an alumnus of Chaffin’s Theatre in Bellevue.
Kevin Thornton has carved out a niche in the Nashville scene as an award-winning experimental rock musician over several years, winning a Nashville Scene Award with his band, Thornton.
His new solo show, “Sex, Dreams, & Self Control!” features his original songs of the kind that have made him a presence in Music City, USA. The much anticipated Sex, Dreams & Self Control CD will be available in October on Amazon and Itunes
