3rd District Congressman Dan Lipinski invites residents to his Health Care Forum on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. The forum will be held at the American Legion Hall, 6050 S. Harlem Ave., Summit, Ill. 60501 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Congressman Lipinski will discuss his leadership on health care reform, you will hear from health care experts and be given a chance to voice your opinion and ask questions.
“Congress is considering a number of competing proposals right now,” Lipinski said. “As the legislative process continues, I will remain committed to supporting options that reduce costs, expand coverage, increase transparency, and promote preventative care and early treatment options. I want to make sure that I hear from experts and, most importantly, hear from my constituents about their views on reform.”
Cong. Lipinski introduced and helped to pass a number of measures on health care reform in the past and present. Lipinski’s ‘Hospital Price Transparency and Disclosure Act’ would require hospitals to show the prices charged on commonly delivered medical service and drugs, putting pressure on hospitals to lower their prices. He also helped introduce the 'Informed Consumer Choices in Health Care Act ' which would require health insurance providers to provide complete disclosure to consumers of of is and what is not covered. And just recently introduced legislation to eliminate the provision in the tax code that allows drug companies to write off cost of public advertising and marketing of drugs to doctors. Last year Lipinski helped introduce the ' Healthy Americans Act ' as an attempt to start the debate on comprehensive reform.
