In Gov. Quinn’s message on March 18, 2009, he stated, ‘Illinois is facing an $11 billion deficit for years 2009 and 2010’. That it ‘calls for every type of solution’ and ‘the plan makes tough decisions’.
The other day we heard Gov. Quinn tell Illinois residents that they should have courage.
Residents of Illinois wonder why Gov. Quinn does not have the same courage that he ask of residents. Illinois residents ask Gov. Quinn “The Reformer” to make the tough decision to repeal “sanction state” executive orders of past governors. Order or encourage the repeal of “sanction Counties and Cities” in the State.
Issue orders for State Police to sign up for 287(g) to identify and process criminal aliens for removal and investigate criminal immigration violations. Since January 2006 the program is credited with identifying more than 100,000 potentially removable aliens.
On April 16, 2009 Sun-Times Staff, reports: “Illinois has as estimated 450,000 illegal immigrants, according to a new study by the Pew Hispanic Center. Illinois ranks eighth in the nation. California leads with as many as 2.8 million illegal immigrants, the study found. The Illinois numbers have more than doubled since 1990….”.
Issue orders and sign on to E-Verify, a key element to deter illegal immigration from taking our jobs, lowing our wages and using false social security numbers by committing ID theft. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in May that unemployment in Illinois is 10.1%. E-Verify could increase legal employment and help put residents back to work.
Support the passing of H. R. 2406 CLEAR Act of 2009, a bill that would authorize the Federal government to reimburse states and localities up to $400 million per year for the cost of incarcerating illegal aliens. It’s main goal is to ‘help local law enforcement detect, arrest and detain illegal aliens in their communities’.
FAIR 2007 Report states: “Analysis based on current estimates of the illegal alien population residing in Illinois indicates that population costs the state’s taxpayers more than $3.5 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration. That annual tax burden amounts to about $695 per Illinois household headed by a native-born resident. Even if the $465 million in sales, income and property taxes collected from illegal immigrants are subtracted from the fiscal outlays, net costs still amount to more than $3 billion per year.”
We are told this budget is framed around the three core principles: Reform, Responsibility and Recovery. Well, before you cut our services and/or increase our taxes; the people of Illinois would like to see Real reform, responsibility and recovery.
