Alabama’s offensive line hasn’t been the dominant force it was in 2008 but it has been the biggest surprise unit of this Crimson Tide football team this season.
Alabama’s perceived lack of style points in the win over Tennessee has opened the floodgates for analysts and fans to openly doubt the Tide and predict their downfall versus LSU. The way people talk about Alabama, you’d think they’ve been narrowly escaping defeat each week (alas Iowa.) The scores tell a different story. Alabama, like Florida and Texas, has only one win that wasn’t by double-digits this season, the last one over Tennessee.
I find it humorous that Alabama gets no credit for beating a rival largely because of special teams. Isn’t special teams a big phase of the game? Why do people say well if it wasn’t for this blocked kick or this return or whatever, X team would have beaten O team. Well that did happen and it counts. Plus, somehow all the praise that Tennessee is getting doesn’t filter back to Alabama for being in a tight game with them.
We talked about all these topics on the “LSU Week” edition of the weekly sports talk show dedicated to Crimson Tide sports, “Bama Roll Call.” I co-host the show in Tuscaloosa, representing my work here on Examiner.com, with Brett Beaird from WYTK-FM in Huntsville. Be sure to sign-up for e-mail alerts, so you never miss a post on Alabama and the SEC, by selecting subscribe on my main page.
We also broke down the Alabama football team position-by-position, projected how much we will see the wildcat formation from this point forward, previewed the LSU Tigers with Mike Scarborough of TigerBait.com and much more throughout this week’s one-hour show.
“Bama Roll Call” is now heard on 29 stations in five southeast states. The show is a production of CRM Sports, which owns and operates “Ya’ll Magazine” distributed throughout the south. CRM Sports also produces weekly sports talk shows for other teams in the SEC.
There are a lot of ways you can hear "Bama Roll Call" each week.
