With officiating controversies, outspoken head coaches, player eligibility issues, high-profile football games and more, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive has had a lot on his plate in the last few weeks. He is never afraid to discuss the hot topics and the tough issues. Slive and head of SEC officiating Rogers Redding have done a terrific job discussing the issues and being as proactive and open as possible with the media.
At SEC Basketball Media Day, I caught up with Mike Slive for an extended interview. I asked him about his name coming up as a potential replacement to Miles Brand as the President of the NCAA. We also discussed different facets of the officiating controversies, the evaluation of officials and rules, the “one-and-done” rule in the NBA, the SEC TV deal and much more.
