Someone forgot to tell Chicago that even though it hasn’t been obvious for most of the season, New York has pretty descent three-point shooters. The Liberty defeated the Sky 77-70 as costly turnovers and bad defense, coupled with hot shooting by the Liberty, caused Chicago blow a 12-point second half lead. Cathrine Kraayeveld was impressive hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter before going cold the rest of the game. She finished the game with 14 points. Sidney Spencer came off the bench hitting three three-pointers down the stretch which helped extend New York’s lead to five, 75-70 with 1:35 remaining. Spencer led the Liberty in scoring with 15 points, shooting 5-6 from behind the arc. The Liberty resembled the team from last year as they shot 50% from three against the Sky who had difficulty closing out on defense. Hopefully this hot streak will continue tomorrow as the Liberty will be facing the Sacramento Monarchs at home before breaking for the All-Star game.
