The San Antonio Silver Stars lost game 2 of the WNBA Finals 69-61 against the Detroit Shock on Friday night. The Stars started out flat-footed and did not score a field goal until six minutes into the first and only scored 12 points in the entire quarter.

In the second, San Antonio gained their footing and went on a 14-0 run to only be behind 35-28 heading into halftime. Detroit took an 11-point lead in the fourth, but San Antonio wouldn't stay silent. The Stars gave one last push late in the fourth quarter with a proliferation of threes.  But too little, too late.

The Shock will be going back to Michigan one win away from their third WNBA title. Katie Smith led the Shock in scoring with 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Center Taj McWilliams-Franklin ended the game with nine points, six rebounds, and six turnovers and Kara Braxton added in 12 points and four rebounds. Deanna Nolan scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards.

Becky Hammon led the Stars in scoring with 24 points and seven assists. A timid Erin Buescher ended the game with one point and went 0-3 from the floor. Ann Wauters and Sophia Young still had difficulty taking shots in the paint. They scored 13 and 11 points respectively and combined for 11 rebounds.
