Think that Sweet Tomatoes is just a salad place? Then think again. Once you get past the salad bar, there are lots of treats waiting for you.
Even at the salad bar, there are enticing things like the green chili ranch dressing or the standard ranch dressing that’s made from scratch. There are also tossed salads like the wonton chicken salad that has a tasty punch.
Once you pay for your meal ($11.95) and find a seat, you can set your salad down and check out the rest of the faire. Expect at least eight different soups to choose from, two to three are usually vegetarian. For example, the lunchtime I was there I had the corn chowder. It was very tasty and hot, perfect for a cold winter day. My father tried the chili, he found it to be good but not very spicy.
The restaurant does change their soup choices and for November their feature soup is chicken pot pie. If you want to see what soups are lined up for the day, you can check out the menu plans for the location in Albuquerque northeast, or the Westside location.
Other choices include the potato bar with all the sides, tons of fresh breads like cornbread or the delicious blueberry muffins. There is also pasta (more vegetarian choices here), and deserts like frozen yogurt or pudding.
If you also want to save a little money (always a good idea) you can sign-up for the veg club and receive savings via email.
