If you’ve been reading this column for awhile, you know I love books. I never go anywhere without one, because you never know when you’re going to spend 30 minutes waiting for a kid to finish practice, or for that darn airplane to finally take off. Books are portable, don’t require batteries, and can keep you company in most any situation that requires a long wait. So it’s with a bit of apprehension that I’m watching the proliferation of electronic readers and e-books. Are traditional books going the way of the dodo bird? I certainly hope not, but I am willing to experiment with e-books, considering how easy it is to find them online. And many times, you can download e-books for free (and what’s not to like about that?).
Have you been getting into e-books? Do you find them easier or harder to read than regular books? If you’ve never downloaded an e-book, here’s a site to get you started, if you’re interested. This is the mother lode of e-book sites – it’s called “50 best websites to download e-books free” and it’s exactly that. If you can’t find an e-book after visiting this site, you’re not trying very hard! You’ll find just about every type and style of book imaginable on this site, and visiting a few of the links today, I found a few leadership development books that I downloaded for future reading.
Maybe I’ll even look at them on the plane this week…that is, as long as my battery lasts. And when it does go out, I’ll just reach into my bag and pull out whatever book I happen to be carrying with me…
