The second annual Fall Festival at the Detroit Zoo is Saturday and Sunday October 4 and 5, 2008. Entrance to the Fall Festival is included with a Zoo admission ticket.

There will be live entertainment, special activities for children at $5 per child, hayrides at $1 per person, and, of course, lots of food, including Polish sausage, bratwurst, apple strudel, and caramel apples. The action is in the main Picnic Grove from 10 am until 5 pm.

Enjoy yourself listening to the blues by Pete "Big Dog" Fetters on Saturday, and folk/rock sounds by Jill Jack on Sunday.

A ticket to the children's area gives kids access to arts and crafts projects, a giant slide, a moonwalk, as well as pumpkin and face painting.

While you are at the Zoo, visit the bison exhibit to see the two American Bison yearlings, Takodo (male) and Teetonka (female) who have recently become part of the Zoo family. The bison exhibit is near Pierson Lake between the elk and Australian Outback Adventure. These youngsters could grow to between 900 and 2,100 pounds and reach 6 feet tall. Get to know them as calves and watch them grow.
