Wrapping up a green Christmas
I've started wrapping Christmas presents. Some are larger and some are smaller. The small gifts are going to be in holiday tins and re-cycled "designer" boxes. I picked up the tins at yard sales this past summer. Some were 10 cents and others were 25 cents.
I used all the tins I had, so I began to look for more. In Ann Arbor, there are several recycle/low cost places to look for good, used stuff. There is a Salvation Army Store on South State Street. There is the PTO Thrift Shop and the Re-Use Center, both on South Industrial. There is the Kiwanis store on South 1st. I did well. I paid a little more than the yard sales. One tin basket with the original $6.99 tag still on the bottom cost 75 cents. Most of the others were 50 cents.
I think this is a decent move toward recycling. If the person who receives a gift in a holiday tin will re-use the tin for a gift she gives, then the chain of recycle and re-use will grow.
I believe the tins are just as festive as the wrapped boxes.
