10 stocking stuffers from the local hardware store
I was in Ace Hardware, just wandering up and down the aisles. A friend was looking for something she could use to cut the dough to make pasties. Picture a 9-inch round cookie cutter. Nothing seemed to fit the bill, although she did linger in the sheet metal department. She decided to take a good look through the lids for her sauce pans and see if they had edges that could cut dough.
I decided to concentrate on stocking stuffers. Ace is a treasure trove of ideas. Here is some of what I found.
- pepper mills in different sizes, colors, materials, and styles
- peppercorns in glass jars, flavored with French rose, onion, garlic, lemon, or plain
- batteries
- small garden tools, like trowels for indoor flower pots
- small hand tools, like screwdrivers, pliers, or wire cutters
- kitchen tools, like a micro-grater, cheese slicer, garlic press, or bag clip
- bathroom accessories, like toothbrush holder, cup, soap dish, tissue holder
- cookie cutters
- small containers, some metal, some glass, some plastic
- a Smith & Hawken egg carton filled with egg-shaped bird seed tree decorations
