October walk through Lillie Park in Pittsfield Township
According to the Pittsfield Township website:
Lillie Park
"Only an abandoned gravel quarry area a short time ago, this park provides sweeping vistas, two lakes, ADA nature trails, two fishing docks, a 250-foot boardwalk over Turtle Rock Pond, wildlife observation areas, interpretive signage, forest management education, and much more. This park is actually three parks, Lillie North, South and East. The facility has two entrances on Platt Road, Lillie North is a 1/4 mile south of Ellsworth Road, and Lillie South/East are a 1/2 mile south of Ellsworth Road. The park provides a great variety of recreational choices. Funded in part by three DNR Trust Fund grants, the park contains 3 miles of trails, two playground structures, restrooms, four pavilions, picnicking and soccer fields. Recent land acquisition increased the overall size of Lillie Park to 148 acres from its previous 124 acres."
