Rookie Alfredo Aceves continues to impress. 

In the final day game at Yankee Stadium the young righty shut down the Orioles offense to delay official playoff elimination at least one more day.

Joe Girardi let Aceves throw 92 pitches, 58 of which he threw for strikes. 

Over six innings Aceves held the Birds scoreless and surrendered only five hits with three walks and three strikeouts. 

Solid shutout pitching set up an opportunity for Robinson Cano to hit a walk-off single with the bases loaded to earn Mariano Rivera his sixth victory with a 1-0 score.

The Captain, Derek Jeter, took a pitch off the hand in the ninth but you can bet you’ll see him out there Sunday.  "I'm going to play," Jeter said simply.  The hand was not broken – not that it would have kept Jeter out anyway.

With a Red Sox loss to Toronto, the Yankees would have to lose Sunday and the Sox would have to win in order for the Yanks to be formally eliminated from postseason play for the first time since 1994.
