Matt Slocum/APYou’re probably getting tired of the non-news and rampant rumors around Mark Teixeira, but it all could be coming to a close very soon.

Though Boras can play the media like a fiddle by hyping up his clients and seeding false rumors, some think Mark Teixeira’s self-imposed Christmas deadline could be for real.

Jon Heyman of SI.com sees a decision coming very soon, possibly even Tuesday afternoon.

Multiple reports indicate that although the Yankees haven’t made an offer, they’re most definitely involved in the discussions and could swoop in on Teixeira at any time (here, here, and here).

Others think the Yanks are just watching from the sidelines to keep the Sox honest (here).

I’d like to believe that the Yankees are going to slide in at the last minute and steal Tex for a bargain-basement seven years and $150 million, but reports have the Nationals at eight years and $178-$183 million.

Teixeira is likely worth the money given his work ethic, professionalism, and consistent top-flight play but check out National Baseball Examiner Tony DeMarco’s take here on how he statistically doesn’t match-up with A-Rod or Pujols.

28-years-old and mentioned in the same breath as those two?  Sign him.  The Yankees have the money and need a first baseman and a big bat.  Do it.

Great post here by Orioles Examiner Jay Trucker on the inept coverage of the Teixeira sweepstakes by the mainstream sports media here

And thanks to MLB Trade Rumors for keeping on all the Teixeira rumors on record.
