By Gene J. Puskar, AP PhotoMLB.com has announced their 2008 This Year In Baseball Awards nominees.  Three Yankees, all pitchers, made the cut.

Mike Mussina got a nod as Starting Pitcher of the Year nominee along with the likes of Cliff Lee, NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum, and Daisuke Matsuzaka

Moose put up a stellar year at any age, but at 39 this is the stuff Hall of Famers are made of -- 20 wins, 200 innings, 150 K’s, and a 3.37 ERA.

Some think there’s no way he could retire after a year like this, but while filing for free agency as a formality, there’s still no word from Mussina on a decision.

Read about Mussina's Gold Glove Award here.

Mussina has some tough competition for the TYIB Award.  I’ll be rooting for Moose but the smart money is on Cliff Lee.

Lee posted a 22-3 record for the .500 Indians along with a 2.54 ERA and four complete games, two of them shutouts.

Moose’s best chance is for the rabid New York baseball fans to vote early and vote often, so get to it by clicking here.  Remember, it's not necessarily the Cy Young award winners who get the votes.  Voting ends December 5th.

Check back for more on the other two Yankees making the cut.
