Details on the terms of the agreement in place between the Yankees and CC Sabathia are beginning to come clear.
Apparently it wasn’t just Brian Cashman’s sweet talk about New York environs that swayed CC and his wife Amber Sabathia.
On the trip to San Francisco Tuesday night it is confirmed that Cashman helped make up CC’s mind by including a player opt-out clause after 3 years and a seventh year bringing the total to $161M.
This gives the Sabathia family the opportunity to get out of town if they don’t like the metropolitan area after three years, but also gives CC a chance to renegotiate.
Remember the fiasco around A-Rod’s opt-out clause at the end of 2007? Yeah, kind of like that. So we have that to look forward to.
That along with the inclusion of an additional year and $21M swayed the big man to verbally agree to wear pinstripes. His physical should take place late this week or early next allowing for the official announcement.
Yahoo! Sports and CBS Sports have confirmed these details.
