July is a time for all Americans to celebrate the revolution that freed us from shackles of bad rule. This July is a time for Oklahomans to celebrate a revolution to help free us from bad beer. Please welcome the newest member of the beer movement in Oklahoma, Mustang Brewing Co.
Mustang Brewing Co., is the 4th local brewery to open in Oklahoma in the past year. They are joining Marshall Brewery from Tulsa, Coop Ale Works from OKC and Battered Boar Brewery in Edmond.
Company president Tim Schoelen is producing Mustang’s flagship beer, Mustang Golden Ale. This is a nice bright golden color beer that produces a white head, and is a very easy drinking beer. Think session beer, two or three beers in one setting without feeling to full. Golden Ale is a crisp, clean beer with a light hops kiss, but contains enough flavors to make beer drinkers happy.
As one may think, two of OKC’s best beer establishments will carry Mustang Golden Ale (MGA) on tap…McNellies Public House and Tapwerks. McNellies will actually feature MGA for its annual Monday Pint Night on July 13. If you’re not familiar with this concept, McNellies features a different beer every Monday served in that beer’s appropriate glass. The best part, you keep the glass.
Nick Trougakos, of Thirsty Beagle, wrote a nice article and a three part interview (part 1, part 2, part 3) with Mr. Schoelen about their venture into the world of craft beer. Check out Mustang Brewing’s website for updates on placements, new beer releases and sign up on their email list.
We wish Mustang well. Check back here for updates on their success. Please head out to Mustang Brewing’s pint night at McNellies and support the local beer movement. Viva revolution.
Cheers!
