Oklahoma brewery Battered Boar will host a beer dinner tonight at The Melting Pot in Bricktown. They will be pairing their Briar Patch Amber, Company Man Pale Ale and the highly anticipated Coconut Cream Stout at the event. Pairing beer and great food is a wonderful way to showcase a beer’s depth and range. Good luck guys, can’t wait to get my hands on the stout.

Speaking of Halloween, Ghouls Gone Wild is nearing. The 2009 event is the third annual, and will be held Saturday, October 24th in downtown Oklahoma City and begins at 7:00 p.m. The parade route is the same as last year: one mile long, beginning at 11th and Walker and going south to 10th, east to Broadway and south again to 3rd Street. There will be some great floats and costumes. Think Mardi Gras with zombies. The parade route will take you by places with some nice beer: McNellie’s, Café do Brazil and 1492 to name a few.

Be on the look out for the return of McNellie’s Beer University. November 10 at 7:00 pm, McNellie’s, located at 1100 Classen Drive (intersection of 10th and Walker), in the historic Plaza Court Building, will bring their successful tutorial of beer styles back with a focus on the American Craft Beer movement.
You’ll sample some great craft styles from Avery, Great Divide and Rogue. McNellie’s will also include some of Oklahoma’s own craft beer with samples from COOP Ale Works and Marshall Brewing Company. This is a fun and interesting way to sample and learn about some great beer being brewed in the ol’ U.S. of A. This fills up fast, so grab tickets early.

The Tulsa Oktoberfest starts this week. This is a top 5 Oktoberfest event in the whole country and worth the drive from OKC. Great event grounds, large tents, German food and music, crafts and something else…oh yeah, BEER! You’ll be able to drink some great German, import and craft beer. The closest thing Oklahoma has to Munich.
